“The story of the baddest muthaf#*er of all time”
Six time world champion power lifter and Youtube sensation CT Fletcher is no one to mess with. As he breaks down his no nonsense attitude to training and working out, his rough upbringing on the mean streets of Compton, and the way his family and his love for lifting have brought him back from facing death itself to finally facing the culmination of his lifelong dream – the opening of Iron Addicts Gym – viewers are given an unfiltered look at the life of a legend.
If you have ever heard of CT Fletcher, even in passing, then you know that he is one unconventional guy. He has an over the top “no pain, no gain” mentality that pushes people to their very limits – and makes him very sought after as a trainer. But life hasn’t been easy for CT, and his story is a fascinating one. Raised as the child of a preacher, his upbringing was one of religious fundamentalism and physical abuse, and it’s obvious even all these years later how very unresolved his childhood issues with his father are. And yet, it’s also easy to see how he has taken that adversity and used it to motivate himself even more to be the very best there is. As CT puts it, obsession is a necessity if you want to be the best.
CT Fletcher: My Magnificent Obsession shows all of CT Fletcher, from his family (including his father, his still loving ex-wives, and his children and grandchildren), to the cardiovascular surgeon who saved his life. He is a huge, larger than life guy, and to see the love and kindness flowing from him to virtually everyone he encounters is heartwarming. Though he is a huge, loud, obscenity-slinging force, he is truly motivational to those who follow him. As he talks about his upbringing, losing his home, his time in the hospital, and more, he isn’t afraid to let his true emotions out, and it makes for a very compelling film. Even if you had no idea who CT Fletcher is when you began the film, you will love him by the time the credits roll, and that is a credit to both the filmmakers and CT himself
