Guacamelee!  Without knowing anything more about Drinkbox’s new title you know it’s gonna be awesome.  I mean come on!

Luckily Toronto based indie developer Drinkbox have plenty of substance to put behind the game name of the year, Guacamelee.  To quote the guys themselves:

Guacamelee! is a Metroid-vania style action-platformer set in a magical Mexican inspired world.

If that’s not enough to whet your appetite then might I also add that the game, from the earliest showings, has won copious numbers of awards and award nominations for it’s incredible artwork inspired by Mexican culture.

Employing a whimsical approach to the platforming tinged with a side order of brutal fighting mechanics. Featuring a massively down on his luck dude called Juan Aguacate, the story revolves around Juan’s quest to save the world when the El Presidente’s daughter is kidnapped by an Evil Charro Skeleton. Taking place in and around a small village in Mexico, the player travels through alternate dimensions including “The World of Nightmares” on his quest to rescue the girl he loves.

The game finally gets it’s release date today of April 10th 2013.  Guacamelee will be shipping on PS3 and PS Vita and will support the bargain Cross-Buy feature (meaning you buy on it on PS3, you get it on PS Vita too!).
