Wii U, Hawkeye Initiative & more – episode 18 of Nerds Assemble

Bringing you opinions on the latest news for films, comics, TV, videogames and more – welcome to episode 18 of the Nerds Assemble podcast.

In this week’s episode – Paul, Paul (Cookie), Paul (Retroid) and I have a chuckle about the Hawkeye Initiative and what it means for mainstream comics. Plus Retroid and Cookie grill Paul and me about our first impressions of the Wii U, plus ZombiU and Batman Arkham City: Armored Edition.

First up: we discuss the Hawkeye Initiative and how a Tumblr dedicated to it has exploded in popularity this past week. The aim of all the horrific, comics inspired images being leaked out onto the Internet is also explained.

Then we check out the news that Waterworld (y’know, that film starring Kevin Costner, made in the 90s) could be turned into a TV series by SyFy – because they’ve got nothing better to do.

We briefly stumble into a discussion about James Cameron’s oggling of The Hobbit films and how he too hopes to bring shooting at 48 frames per second to the Avatar sequels. (It improves 3D, apparently.)

The last bit of news we look at is the fallout from the British Comic Awards at Thought Bubble this year. While we give no complete solutions, we suggest things that could improve upon perceived issues.

Finally – Cookie and Retroid get to ask Paul and me about our first weekend with a Wii U. (It’s great and ZombiU is one of the scariest games I have ever played.)
