Get Your Freak On: Freaky Pets Review
We liked?
- Great, friendly online community
- Highly active posts
- Chances to win actual prizes
- Lots of free items
Not so much?
- Actual online world with solo game play is on hold
- Plush pets are pretty expensive
There are still plot holes the size of dinnerware but that isn’t the focal point of Freaky Pets. In the end, if you’re looking for a great community for fun, games & a chance to win prizes, Freaky Pets on Facebook is a great community for you. The people are friendly, want to play and interact together and are there to have a good time. Once they get the Facebook app up I imagine it’ll only be that much more fun.
Welcome to the zany and exciting Freaky Pets world, where fun and free sometimes meet!! Want to play Freaky Games and win all kinds of Freaky Stuff, including Freaky Pets and Freaky Pets Stickers? You’re in the right place!
Freaky Pets, currently housed at their Facebook fan page, is a way to play a whole lotta games to win prizes, make friends and interact with others with similar interests. They have over 22K likes with an average of 300 people playing each game with prizes ranging from stickers to pets to shirts.
Instead of trying to keep up with the Jones’ it’s keeping up with Freaky Pets. In a span of a month the online community went from their own world on a website to an online Facebook community and will at some point launch their Facebook app for all those that currently own a plush Freaky Pet.
I received my Freaky Pet Penga, who hails from the planet Cwoddle, and promptly named him Bumble.
I had registered on Freakypets.com, got my certificate and was on my way to playing games in their online world. It was late at night when I logged on so I missed all the interaction with others but the games were cute – I was absolutely sucked into a really fun (and complex) game at the dance club. I actually wasted a whole bunch of time trying to get it right.
I taught Bumble tricks & even bought him a hat and glasses at exorbitant prices – naturally the pimp hat was triple what was in my account. It was a cute little area and I wanted to come back and see what kind of community there was, maybe during the day or when the kids were home from school. I was able to come back a few days later and found this:
I was able to use my browser history and find my way back to the games to see if they were still active. I was able to log in but couldn’t get the browser to load the games. Through the FAQ site they said that they were having issues to and remove and reload the player that was required for the world. Not having time for it at the moment I pushed my return trip to the world a few days more and between life with kids, natural disaster prep and the holidays, I didn’t return until a month later. I tried the browser history and links and they are all deactivated. For those already with a game account and/or plush toys, there is an option for you to sign up and stay connected for when the new Freaky Pets app is launched.
So Facebook it is!
Back in October I wrote about the Facebook page and their website changes. Their store offers a lot of free stuff including songs, ringtones and two free books – It’s All In The Moves and The Three Puffketeers have really cute art work. It’s All In The Moves actually addresses the two-sided nature of the freaky pets, what happens when they get angry – something that seems to be mostly lost everywhere else. The ring tones and the sound bites appear to be the same but they are cute and might be fun to have a ring tone – we all know someone who get’s so mad they’d want to bust a move.
Their Facebook page is really quite active – 12 posts on Wednesday (11/21), 7 on Tuesday (11/20) and after 11 on Monday (11/19) I stopped counting. As much as I expected this community to be child-centric (and I still believe it is), I think as of now it’s become a more interactive Facebook game for people that absolutely love this fan site. People are posting videos to win – it’s really quite impressive.
