Looks great and plays great!

Final Fiendish Findings?

Flat out, Allods Adventure HD is one of the best mobile games I’ve played in a while (and I play tons of them). The environments are just beautiful to look at, there is a great variety and challenge in each and every puzzle, and the whole thing is put together very well. At only $.99 for download, it is worth every penny, and a great app to make the holiday traveling just fly by.

Full Fiendish Findings...

I love this game!

With so many mobile games coming out seemingly constantly these days, it can be exceedingly difficult to find one that’s worth the money. There are simply so many games on the app store, that finding those jewels in the rough can seem downright impossible. Lucky for you, we’re willing to sift through the piles to find the diamonds in the rough, and I’ve got a great one for you today – just in time for holiday traveling!

When I think of mobile games, two favorite types come to mind: puzzles, and cute animals. Why? Mainly because both of those are easily played in small bits (it is mobile gaming, after all), and because they’re lots of fun without requiring a huge learning curve or lots of commitment. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started up Allods Adventure HD, but I am very happy to report that it does both cute animals and engaging puzzles quite well.

The basic premise is this: you have an ever growing arsenal of said cute animals, each with their own ability, and a limited amount of uses per level. The levels are colorful landscapes (which are also exceedingly cute) containing a certain number of enemies and stars. You must defeat all of the enemies to finish the level, and you must capture all the stars to gain a new animal (and with 48 different ones available, you’ll want each and every one). To defeat said enemies and get the stars too, you’ll need to switch back and forth between your animals, using all of their special abilities to complete the puzzle of getting it all in a limited number of turns. You also get to collect treasure that is hidden around the island in each level, which makes for some fun hidden object gaming that gives you a little break when you need time to think on a puzzle.

When you start out in Allods Adventure HD, you have only a bear. He sends out a straight attack that ranges three squares straight forward, even through obstacles. At first, you’ll need only to figure out which side to hit from to get everything. Then you add an Evil Eye. He can unfreeze things, and since the bear’s hit doesn’t affect frozen creatures, you’ll need to first unfreeze, and then attack. Then comes a squirrel that can switch places with enemies, meaning you can finally start to move those guys into an order you want, one square at a time. As you advance in the game and earn more and more animals, the levels become more and more challenging as well. I simply could not put it down, and I really foresee this as being a game I return to for a very long time.

Flat out, Allods Adventure HD is one of the best mobile games I’ve played in a while (and I play tons of them). The environments are just beautiful to look at, there is a great variety and challenge in each and every puzzle, and the whole thing is put together very well.
