We liked?

Interesting characters, and lots of unexpected turns.

Not so much?

Villain is rather easy to pinpoint.

Final Fiendish Findings?

Truth Stained Lies is a book that does a great job of keeping you engaged in the story. There are twists and turns everywhere. While the mysterious murdered himself may not be too difficult to figure out, but the path the book takes you in getting to the big reveal is pretty unexpected. Truth Stained Lies also adds in an element of faith based writing, but it is presented more as a character facet than a main focal point of the story, which allows you to appreciate its influence without being overwhelmed. Overall, it’s an enjoyable book with an unique plot – it isn’t groundbreaking, but it is enjoyable.

Full Fiendish Findings...

Jay Cramer is having a *really* bad day.

Things finally look like they are turning around for Jay. His estranged wife, who has been fighting him tooth and nail for custody of their son for nearly a year, has sent an email for the two of them to sit down together and work things out civilly. It’s the break he’s been waiting for, and he can’t get to her house fast enough. When he arrives at her house, he’s a little surprised to meet a clown on the way out of the house, but Jay is just so excited to come to terms that he puts it out of his mind. Maybe it’s just a performer auditioning for their son’s birthday party, or something. Of course, when he enters the house only to find his wife has been brutally murdered, that clown suddenly doesn’t seem so funny after all.

So here’s the setup. A guy who has been publicly feuding with his ex-wife for months, calls in her murder. Already, things don’t look so good. Add in the fact that he insists that a clown is to blame, and things aren’t looking so good for Jay Cramer. As Jay is forced to face the fact that the police strongly suspect he is responsible for Annalee’s murder, things take a turn for the worse. But Jay’s family will not settle for him going down without a fight, and they have a lot of resources at their disposal.

Cathy, a main focal point in the story, is a former lawyer turned blogger who uses every bit of her experience with the law to help Jay. Holly, a taxi driver who feels a little less than worthy, uses her flexible schedule and keen eyes. And Juliet, the consummate housewife and giver, does everything in her power to keep Jay’s son from harm. Along with Jay and his sisters, we have Michael. Michael, the brother of Cathy’s murdered fiance, is a disgraced former cop who has turned his skills to investigative work. He has a lot of his won demons to face, but Michael is committed to the case – even if it means putting things right with his remaining brother.
