“Merry Christmas to all – now that Christmas is right!”

It’s time to face facts; Christmas is right around the corner. And while the season may well mean tons of shopping, decorating, wrapping, cooking, and more than a little stress, it’s also a time of great joy – especially for children. This year, consider making holiday books a part of your decorating tradition. What better way to help your kids get in the spirit than by books about the season, the traditions, or their favorite red suited big guy – Santa Claus.

In Santa’s (Zany, Wacky, Just Not Right!) Night Before Christmas, Santa’s normal trip around the world takes a decidedly odd turn when a laundry mishap causes a chain reaction of events that are most decidedly silly. Poor Santa doesn’t know what to do when his suit turns purple, his reindeer take on wacky names and some pretty untraditional color, and the elves turn into giants. It’s all very silly, but Santa is quite distressed at all the changes that have fallen onto his favorite holiday – and all because of one silly mistake.

Of course, this is a playful children’s story, so happy endings are a must. Just when it seems like things have gotten completely out of control and Christmas might just be ruined, Santa’s wakes up to the sound of his alarm clock and the assurance that is was all just a bad dream. The reindeer are back to normal, his suit is a bright cheery red, and everything is right with Christmas as Santa sets off to deliver presents to children all over the world. Christmas is saved, but just to be safe, Santa decides to let Mrs. Claus handle the laundry duties from here on out.

Santa’s (Zany, Wacky, Just Not Right!) Night Before Christmas is what you’d expect from a children’s storybook. There are tons of brightly colored pictures to keep little eyes busy, and a whole lot of silliness to keep them engaged in the story. There isn’t any moral to the story and Santa doesn’t really learn anything from the experience (unless you count leaving laundry duty to the wife as a life lesson), but it’s a fun story that will make for some bedtime stories filled with holiday spirit, and plenty of giggles too.
