Nowhere Man fans are in for a treat with the latest installment in the series. In Jacked Up! Volume 2, readers finally get an origin story – and it’s a doozy. Nowhere Man is a comic series following the trials and tribulations of one Jack Maguire. Jack is a police detective with a pretty big chip on his shoulder, and enough incredible mysterious powers to make things truly interesting.
In previous volumes, we’ve learned more and more about Jack and his abilities, along with details here and there about his complicated relationship with his partner, Rose. While there have been little tidbits in each volume that hint at the depths of Jack’s capabilities, as well as how he may have acquired them. But up until now, little hints are all that have been revealed, and each volume has left you with more questions than answers – intriguingly so.
In Volume 2, Book 2 of Jacked Up!, we explore more of Jack’s relationship with his father, one of the number of New York’s finest who lost their lives when the twin towers fell. As Jack lays in a hospital bed, deep in a coma, it is left to Rose to explain what really happened the night Jack was injured – and she isn’t willing to take the fall. As she deals with police interrogation, a series of flashbacks give readers the first real glimpse at the true origins of Jack’s powers.
The latest installment of Nowhere Man brings more of the high quality illustrations we’ve come to expect from Jerome Walford’s action packed series. With in depth graphics depicting newly revealed capabilities of Jack’s high tech suit, readers are finally given insight into some of the characters behind Jack’s changes. While this volume also leaves readers with many questions, there are many answers as well – and the fast pace and engaging graphics make every panel exciting.
