A funny book that will get reluctant readers lost in Big Nate's troubles and hijinks.

Not so much?

Because it is in graphic novel form, it's a pretty quick read.

Lincoln Peirce delivers another volume of Big Nate fun with Welcome to my World.

Big Nate is super popular with elementary aged kids, and it’s not hard to see why. The graphic novel format makes it both easy to read and fun to look at, and kids can really relate to fun-loving Nate as he ends up in some sort of trouble time and time again. In Welcome to my World, the fun starts with Grandparents Day at Nate’s school. But what he thinks will be an easy day of showing his grandparents around and eating treats is anything but fun. The closest thing to a treat he gets to eat is the yucky school lunch, and he even gets hit with a pop quiz. It’s not all bad though, as he and his grandpa both enjoy cracking jokes at pretty much everything.

The book covers a variety of different situations, from Nate’s constant trouble with his teacher to his quest for a perfect score – no matter what it takes. The story flows from one small joke to the next, while still keeping the overall story line going. Because it is a series of little stories and little jokes, it’s easy even for kids with short attention spans to read – and kids will delight in the constant one liners, and Nate’s irrepressible charm. The colorful graphics serve well to illustrate Nate’s antics and give busy minds something to look at.

Whether you’re looking for a way to get your reluctant reader more interested in reading, or just add another book to your child’s Big Nate collection, Big Nate: Welcome to my World is a funny read that will keep kids smiling…and reading.
