Kickstarter is more and more becoming a common staple of video game funding, and Divinity: Original Sin 2 is showing how it works (sometimes). In less than 12 hours, Larian Studios raised their USD$500,000 target to better develop their now-anticipated sequel.

Larian posted an update on their Kickstarter page stating they are, “incredibly motivated to take D:OS 2 as far as we can.” To their loyal funders, they said, “You are allowing us to create deep complex RPG experiences that we love to make and we’re so very grateful to all of you!”

They did admit that their own team didn’t quite expect such a rapid response, and they aren’t quite ready with a full update, but promise to post one soon.

Larian announced  D:OS 2 earlier in August. They are funding the project themselves, but said the extra money gained from Kickstarter will allow more than its budget allows for.

An enhanced edition of Divinity: Original Sin will be coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC later in the year.
