Perfect World Entertainment have today announced some further details of Neverwinter‘s forthcoming Elemental Evil expansion. As well as a new class and raised level cap, we are also going to be re-introduced to the man-and-hamster tag team of Minsc and Boo, who previously made such an impression in Baldur’s Gate 1 and 2.

“Stand and deliver, that my hamster might have a better look at you.”

Due to appear as supporting characters for some of the new content, Minsc’s abilities as a ranger with beserker tendencies should be an easy fit for the action-MMO approach of Neverwinter. Boo may be harder to fit – being either a Miniature Giant Space Hamster (as Minsc believes) or a regular hamster (as nigh on everyone else thinks), in either case Boo is still the indisputably smarter of the pair, and this duo added both humour and quotable lines in their original appearances.

The Elemental Evil expansion is also adding the Paladin as a new playable class, who can be set up for tanking or healing, and will raise the current level cap from 60 to 70. The Elemental Evil content itself will also be tying in with Wizards of the Coast’s Princes of the Apocalypse pen and paper adventure due for release this spring.

Neverwinter: Elemental Evil is due to launch on March 17th for PC; an Xbox One version of Neverwinter is also due for release in the first quarter of 2015.
