Ah, coffee – the nectar of the gods. There are so many wonderful roasts and blends, some many rich flavors, it’s like opening a present every morning when you fill your cup. But how you fill that cup is just as important as the type of brew, and with so many machines and methods out there, it can be tough to find the one that’s just right for you and your family.

The iCoffee Opus from iCoffee is a single serve brewing system that gives you everything you need to make the perfect cup of coffee, every time. Like many popular single serve machines, it uses coffee pods to make a single cup at a time. But the iCoffee Opus takes the standard formula up a notch by both steaming and stirring, ensuring a perfect brew every time. It makes for a surprisingly smooth cup of coffee, regardless of the brand of cups you use – and it works great for cocoa and tea too.

The big draw of single serve systems is that every user gets a cup of coffee that suits their individual taste, regardless of whether that’s a strong espresso or a sweet flavored blend. But most machines only offer a choice between a small, medium, or large cup, so getting your perfect blend isn’t always possible. The iCoffee Opus lets you size your cup anywhere from four to twelve ounces, in half ounce increments, giving much better control over how strong your cup of coffee ends up.

For those who like a sleek, modern look, the Opus certainly fits the part. Its design is all black with chrome accents, and bright blue lights shine through the large water reservoir (and blink when it needs refilling). There are also blue lights that shine as your cup fills, providing a cool look and much needed light for those blurry early morning fills. There aren’t a lot of buttons to figure out, so the whole process is pretty intuitive, even for people who haven’t used a single serve machine before. The display screen tells you when the water is heating, and when it’s ready. There is a dial that can be turned to set your cup size, and you simply press the middle of it to brew.

The machine keeps water heated so you won’t ever have long to wait for your perfect cup. The water reservoir can be removed for easy filling if you like. The coffee pods go into the top of the machine, where water sprays in a circle to both steam and stir at the same time. It brews a cup in a hurry, and it really does taste quite smooth. It’s also super hot (just like I like it), but something to be wary of if your kids enjoy brewing their own cocoa, as there isn’t any way to turn down the heat.

The iCoffee Opus is billed as a brewing system, and everything you need to get started is included in the package. Along with your machine, you’ll get a variety pack that includes several different types of coffee, and even some loose leaf tea. Even better, you also get a reusable pod that can be used for brewing with any type of coffee you have on hand. It also works great for loose leaf tea, an easy and inexpensive alternative to store bought pods. Hot water on demand is also just super convenient – you can get a shot of hot water for soup cups, cocoa, tea bags, or anything else in just a few seconds.

Whether you’re looking for the perfect gift to put under the tree, or a new addition to your own kitchen, the iCoffee Opus Single Serve Brewing System is a modern take on the traditional cup of coffee. With everything you need to brew the perfect cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa included in the box, you’ll be brewing and sipping in just minutes.
