A teaca-what now?

Are you searching for the perfect unique gift for those impossible to buy for people on your list? The Teacarina is original, fun, and pretty darn classy. It’s a perfect fit for music lovers, teacup collectors, and anyone who loves something just a little bit different. So what is it? A teacarina is just what it sounds like – a teacup/ocarina mashup that gives you the best of both worlds in one surprisingly pretty little package.

If you’re anything like me, when you hear about a teacup ocarina, your thoughts automatically go to “how in the heck would that even work? Is it a functional ocarina that just looks like a teacup, a teacup featuring an ocarina pattern, or what?” What it is, is both a fully functional ocarina in a very usable teacup form. STL Ocarina is pretty much the place for all your ocarina needs, but they’ve really hit it out of the park with this one, and I fell in love with it at first sight.

As a teacup, the teacarina has the look of a cool pottery piece. It’s a small, handleless teacup that comes in a variety of colors. It’s double walled, so your hands are protected and your tea stays nice and toasty, and it comes in a variety of colors. For the practical types, it’s also dishwasher and microwave safe, so it’s super convenient as well. The best part though, is that your ocarina is built right into the cup.

The rim of the teacup has a small hole on one side, and there a several holes on the sides of the cup. Simple blow gently into the hole in the rim to produce a funky mellow sound. The holes on the sides of the cup are for fingering, making it possible to literally play a tune on your teacup. While it’s loads of fun to just play around and make random sounds, the cup also comes with a little songbook so that you can quickly learn to play some basic sounds.

The Teacarina is a really fun concept, and it definitely adds some amusing potential to your next fancy tea party. It’s simple to play and produces a really pretty sound – and it has a high end look to it that won’t look out of place amidst a fancy teacup collection either. It’s the perfect unique gift for just about anyone on your list – and after seeing it, you’re probably going to want to get one for yourself too.
