Codemasters Do Away With Pre-Order Madness With GRID: Autosport Black Edition

“It’s like, how much more black could this be? And the answer is none. None more black.”

Codemasters claim to have learnt more than a few lessons from their previous title, GRID 2, which received a lot of negativity regarding certain changes around the car handling and the lack of cockpit camera. As well as hoping to address those complaints in their latest iteration, they’ve also promised to not offer a “wide spread of pre-order bonuses” following customer feedback. Instead they’re opting for an alternative retail package, the Grid: Autosport Black Edition. The video goes into the details but for people who hate moving images, the Black Edition contains:

  • Exclusive Mercedes Benz SLS AMG Coupé Black Series car
  • Exclusive Black Edition white Ravenwest liveries for Black Edition cars
  • Online premium sponsors
  • 20 extra ‘Black Edition’ online livery patterns
  • 10 new sponsors with objectives

Pre-order bonuses can become something of a nightmare, particularly when they start becoming retailer exclusive. Codies may hit upon an ideal solution here compared to that. The bonus content will still need to be downloaded via redemption codes.

GRID: Autosport, both the original and black edition, will be available to pre-order on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The game will be released on June 27th.

Playing games since I'd developed enough motor functions to hold a joystick. From Commodore 64 all the way through to the latest gen. Favourite games to play are FPS games and anything with a deep and compelling story and a world that draws you in. I also enjoy writing, film making and playing bass in whatever band will have me :)
