Ubisoft’s decision to delay Watch_Dogs may have caused much surprise last week, but it would appear that the release schedule for another of their big titles is still thankfully on track, with the official launch trailer for Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag being released today.

With Anne Bonny giving a monologue on new protagonist Edward Kenway, the trailer teases more of the game to come – naval battles, sword fights, and just enough swinging-on-ropes to relive a few moments from pirate movies.

There are also specifics for the series, with Kenway performing a leap of faith; and emphasis placed naturally on some of the other characters in the game’s narrative – hopefully providing a new reason to go exploring (other than the appeal of Caribbean sun as winter arrives) after the completed story told in the previous games.

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag is due for release on October 29th for 360 and PS3; and on November 22nd in Europe for PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Wii U (29th Oct for Wii U, 15th Nov for PS4 and 19th Nov for PC in North America).

Peter can be described as an old, hairy gamer, a survivor of the console wars of the 1990s, and a part-time MMO addict. He has an especial fondness for retro gaming and observing the progressions in long running gaming series. When scandalously not caught gaming, he can also be found reading comics and fantasy fiction, or practising terrible photography.
