Chivalry: Medieval Warfare Getting Expansion Based on Deadliest Warrior

Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is a great game, but you know what would make it better? Samurai. Fortunately. Torn Banner and Spike TV are on it, as today they’ve announced an expansion based on the Deadliest Warrior TV series, titled Chivalry – Deadliest Warrior.

Now, if you’re unfamiliar, Deadliest Warrior was a TV show where two different brands of warriors from throughout time were compared against each other, resulting in a decision on who kicks more ass. It was canceled in 2011, but not before getting a video game spin-off, of which the critical reception could easily be summed up as “meh”.

So what does this mean for the game? Well, we don’t have too much information yet, but it’s been confirmed that Spartans and Samurai will be two of the playable factions, and judging by the empty shadows in the website, we’ll probably see four more revealed before launch. We’re also promised new maps and multi-team battles, likely between three or more of the previously mentioned historical warriors.

Unfortunately, there’s no word on a release date or a price. It’s pretty well known that Torn Banner are big fans of the free update structure, however, if I had to guess, the new stuff will be behind a paywall of some kind. Truly capitalism is Earth’s deadliest warrior.

I’ll see myself out.
