Watchdogs is one of the most highly anticipated games of this holiday season.  It stands to reason that such an aesthetically rich looking world would translate well to a movie.

Sony seem to agree with that as Ubisoft’s head Yves Guillemotannouncing the venture at Sony’s GamesCom press event.  Jean-Julien Baronnet, chief executive officer, Ubisoft Motion Pictures then laid out their plans for the coming game and movie franchise:

“Since both Sony and Ubisoft have movie and video game branches, this deal creates exceptional opportunities for us to merge the realms of the story-based cinematic experience with the interaction of the video game.  In addition, Sony Pictures and New Regency have deep production expertise and are letting us maintain a strong creative voice in the film’s development. Together, we’re confident we can deliver a movie that builds upon the excitement that the game is already generating.”

As well as the movie Ubi announced the treats in store for PS4 and PS3 gamers getting an exclusive Hacking Boost, Deadsec DLC outfit, and four exclusive mission at launch apparently totaling around an hour of extra play.

Watch Dogs is out on PC3, Pc, Wii U and Xbox 360 in North America on November 19, and across Europe on November 22.  It’ll be released for PS4 at the consoles launch and Xbox One at a date to be determined.
