Capcom have never been shy about crossing over titles – the Street Fighter crew have taken on everyone from Mega Man to Galactus – but on first reading about this Resident Evil crossover coming in April, the first thing to check was the date… But well after April Fool’s Day, on April 5th to be exact, Resident Evil 6 x Left 4 Dead 2 is due to release free content into both titles on the PC.

Resident Evil 6 players are going to find themselves with the team from Left 4 Dead 2 added to the roster for the Mercenaries: No Mercy mode; each will have a customised load-out to see them through the hordes. The characters, new and old, will also find special infected among the zombies as the Witch and Mini Tank are added to the crowds.

On the other side side of the coin, Left 4 Dead 2 players will find new monsters from Resident Evil 6 – Lepotitsa, Napad and Ogroman – have been developed by Valve and added to the waves assaulting them. The announcement (made by Capcom) doesn’t mention if Valve will be adding any further elements.

Resident Evil 6 x Left 4 Dead 2 is planned to be free, downloading the extra content “in the background” into the PC titles after April 5th.
