It’s President’s Day, y’all, and what better way to honor the sacrifice and hard work of our forefathers than plopping ourselves in front of the screen for a presidential movie marathon? Now that’s what I call a fitting tribute. There have been loads of movies featuring various presidents real and fictional, and rightly so, but we’ve done our best to highlight five of our favorites for your viewing pleasure. Check out the Games Fiends 5.

Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln is arguably one of the most influential presidents of all time. He was instrumental in changing the United States in a fundamental way, and he was just plain interesting in many different ways. “As the Civil War continues to rage, America’s president struggles with continuing carnage on the battlefield and as he fights with many inside his own cabinet on the decision to emancipate the slaves.”

JFK
There is nothing like a classic. JFK was the epitome of an icon. From his powerful presence to his enviable wife (and his extramarital antics) to his tragic end, his was a life that is frankly just fascinating. And of course, the conspiracy theories that abound make for some intriguing story lines. “A New Orleans DA discovers there’s more to the Kennedy assassination than the official story.”

Dave
There’s no need for our movie marathon to be all serious and historic. Just because he’s the face of our country doesn’t mean the office of the president can’t be funny. Dave is a lighthearted look at the Oval Office, and just plain funny to boot. What happens if an ordinary citizen is called on to perform the duties of the President ? It’s a Prince and the Pauper type twist that will have you rolling. “To avoid a potentially explosive scandal when the U.S. President goes into a coma, an affable temp agency owner with an uncanny resemblance, is put in his place.”

Ike: Countdown to D-Day
You’ve got to like Ike. Dwight D. Eisenhower was fascinating before he even became President, and the military maneuvers he participated in as a Five Star General most definitely influenced his term in the Oval Office. “IKE: COUNTDOWN TO D-DAY depicts the tense 90 days leading up to the D-Day invasion and how Dwight Eisenhower, against all odds, brilliantly orchestrated the most important military maneuver in modern history.”

Air Force One
Just because the office of the president is distinguished doesn’t mean we can’t have some explosions up in this. Throw in a little Harrison Ford and we’ve got a President’s Day marathon that will rock your living room. As the President’s private plane, Air Force One is a constant source of curiosity for most Americans. What’s it like? How does it feel to ride in it? And what would happen if Air Force One came under attack? Hopefully we never have to find out for real, but it sure makes for an exciting movie. “Hijackers seize the plane carrying the President of the United States and his family, but he (an ex-soldier) works from hiding to defeat them.”

So there you have it. Five movies that are definitely worth your time on a cold day off. Queue them up, grab the popcorn, and join us in saying, “Thank you, Mr. President.”
