Bringing you opinions on the latest news for films, comics, TV, videogames and more – welcome to episode 20 of the Nerds Assemble podcast.

Here’s our final episode for 2012. Enjoy.

In this episode: the Pauls and I look at some of the latest entertainment news to hit before Christmas, including the Pacific Rim trailer, the ongoing Shuster legal battle over Superman and Google Maps returning to Apple’s App Store.

If you were thinking that the trailer for Pacific Rim is looking like some kind of Neon Genesis Evangelion or Gundam rip-off… you are not alone.

Plus we continued to be puzzled by the continuing legal wranglings over Superman. It’s been going on for a while – we covered another part of it back in episode 11.

And it’s not quite a laughing matter that Google Maps have come back to the Apple App Store in light of recent incidents with the iPhone’s default map app making things particularly dangerous for people navigating in certain parts of the world.

I also update on my progress with playing ZombiU – it’s not going well, but not for the reasons you may think.

Finally – just what our favourite videogames of 2012? We make cases for Journey, The Darkness II, Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance and Mass Effect 3.
