Director Bryan Singer has announced that Hugh Jackman will reprise the role of Wolverine in the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past via Twitter.

“I would officially like to welcome@RealHughJackman to the cast of #Xmen Days of Future Past. Very excited! More to come…” said Singer.

Jackman had a brief cameo in X-Men First Class (who could forget?) and has his own solo Wolverine movie coming in 2013. That being said, it’s a pretty safe bet that he will be a supporting character and not a main focus of the film. Whether it will tie in with the Wolverine movie or not is yet to be seen. Singer also announced the return of Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen who portrayed Professor Xavier and Magneto in the original trilogy earlier in the month. The principal cast from X-Men First Class will also be returning to reprise their roles.
