What is happening this week in the entertainment world?

Disney is set to make a live-action Cinderella movie, which Mark Romanek (Never Let Me Go) will direct. Cate Blanchet is said to be in negotiations to play the evil stepmother, while a trio of young actresses Saorise Ronan (Atonement ), Alicia Vikander (Anna Karenina) and Gabriella Wilde (The Three Musketeers) are all set to audition for the title role.   Source.

The CW’s Arrow has filled the role of Slade Wilson. The character will later become one of the main villains Deathstroke, if they follow the comic book storylines. Manu Bennett who fans may know as Crixus from the Star’s show Spartacus will join the cast in upcoming episodes. We have previously seen Deathstroke only masked in flashbacks.   Source.

Quentin Tarantino is getting some press for a letter he sent a fan in 1996. A young 13 year old girl took time to write the director an enthusiastic fan letter after seeing his cult classic “From Dusk till Dawn” and the director wrote her an awesome hand written letter in reply. He even shared it with his partner at the time Mira Sorvino. You can read Tarantino’s response here.

Star Wars producer Rick McCallum will be leaving Lucas Arts to focus on an Independent Film career. McCallum’s work with Lucas Arts was instrumental in both the “Special Edition” re-releases of the original trilogy and the production of Episodes 1-3.   Source.

Teaser trailers for the upcoming Bates Motel, the Psycho Prequel TV Show which will air on A&E. Freddie Highmore (Finding Neverland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) will play the young Norman Bates while Vera Farmiga (The Departed) will play his infamous mother. The trailers are chilling and you can watch the creepy teasers here.

Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel have officially signed on to participate in the upcoming Disney Show “Girl Meets World” which will feature the adventures of Corey and Topanga’s daughter. Unfortunately it looks like there will be no appearances by uncle Shawn, Rider Strong has not signed on to the project.   Source.

Molly Ringwald is set to develop and star in a John Hughes-esque drama for Lifetime. The show will center on a woman who returns to her hometown with two kids and confronts the social issues of her past, including the mean girls of her high school days. So basically, Pretty in Pink Part II?  Source.

For those of you wishing March 31 would come sooner, you can get a little insight to the new season of Games of Thrones thanks to the new trailer that has just been released. The spot features glimpses at the new locations (breathtaking) and some of the new additions to the cast (also breathtaking).  New characters include Queen of Thorns Olenna Tyrell (Diana Rigg) and the Reed siblings, Jojen (Thomas Brodie-Sangster) and Meera (Ellie Kendirck). See the spot here.

Star Trek Into Darkness has released a new poster for the upcoming film. It features Benedict Cumberbatch (BBC’s Sherlock) with his back to the audience surrounded by the Trek emblem made out of crumbling debris. The poster is exciting for Star Trek fans who have been eagerly awaiting the film. However, as Den of Geek points out the image does bare an uncanny resemblance to another famous film poster. See it here.

Fans of the BBC Show Doctor Who will be glad to hear that the 50th Anniversary Special has now officially been confirmed. With the internet rife with rumors as to what the special will entail, past doctors, multiple episodes it is nice to finally have something solid. The Mark Gatiss penned docdrama of the show’s birth on the BBC will definitely happen.  The 90 minute feature will form only part of the 50th anniversary special however and is provisionally titled “An Adventure in Space and Time.”   Source.

The Highlander re-make starring Ryan Reynolds has hit another snag with the loss of its third director, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 days later). “You’d think it wouldn’t be this hard to find a person willing to spend 40 days shooting Ryan Reynolds holding a sword on a mountain top.” Reports Vulture, We have to agree.   Source.
