Kids Prefer iOS Devices Over Consoles
As Christmas draws nearer and nearer, we worry more and more about what to get our special little ones. If young Jimmy likes to go with the crowd, there is a high probability that an iOS device on Christmas morning will a brush a smile on his precious face.
A survey was carried out by Nielsen in which they asked 6 to 12-year-olds and teenagers if they wanted to have the gadget asked about in the next 6 months. The iPad was most demanded in the 6-12 range, with 48% of those asked answering they’d like to have one. The next most popular device was Nintendo’s newest home console, the Wii U, which 39% of kids in the survey wanted. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th positions were all filled by iOS devices, i.e. the iPod Touch, iPad Mini and iPhone. 36% would have liked an iPod Touch or iPad Mini while 33% fancied having an iPhone. Only a quarter of those asked took an interest in having a PS3 or an Xbox 360.
Kids over the age of 13 had their choice of gadgets made more evenly and fairly apportioned. The iPad again came on top with 21% saying they wanted one. But, teenagers showed interest in other tablets and computers more moderately and with less regards for the brand involved than the children aged lower.
