Minecraft passes 8 million sales

Minecraft managed to become to poster child for the indie generation.  Taking a relaxed and seemingly crazy payment model the team at Mojang (well just Notch at the start of course) managed to turn a fledgling niche pc title and make it a world wide gaming phenomenon.

You can’t do that without some serious numbers to back you up!  Luckily for Mojang they do have the chops to stand up tall.  With the current figure 8,004,373 copies of the PC game sold since launch. In the last 24 hours alone the game has notched (pun intended mostly!) 8,411 sales!

Minecraft just continues to go from strength to strength with more and more mod action hitting the scene daily.
