The NPD Group has reported that Take-Two’s NBA 2K13, Capcom’s Resident Evil 6, and Nintendo’s Pokemon Black Version 2 topped the U.S. October 2012 retail software charts.

NBA 2K13 held a commanding lead on the US top 10 chart, with 1.27 million units sold across all versions, followed by 806K units for Resident Evil 6. Pokemon Black Version 2‘s exact sales were not revealed, however, we know that it fell somewhere between 460.2K and 806K, with combined sales of Black 2 and White 2 totaling 867K.

Much further down the charts, EA’s Medal of Honor: Warfighter shipped a mere 300K units during its debut month. This represents a drop of around 70% from the total first month sales of the 2010′s Medal of Honor.

On the hardware side, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 was the top selling console with 270K units sold (a 31.3% year-over-year), and Nintendo’s 3DS came in a close second with somewhere between 213K and 250K in total sales. Exact hardware sales numbers were not provided for the PS3, Wii, DS, and PS Vita.

Overall video game industry sales of new retail products fell 25% year-over-year to just $755.55 million. Hardware sales represented the lion’s share of the decline, reporting just $187.3 million in sales (down 37% year-over-year). Software sales realized a 25% drop to $451.8 million. The sale of video game accessories helped offset the declines with a 5% increase to $135.6 million thanks in part to Skylanders figures.
